The Hmong 60 Festival is a celebration of the Hmong spirit and resilience in America. Honoring our elders and remembering their sacrifices and perseverance, while looking toward the future, this festival marks a milestone in the Hmong American story.
Our mission is to showcase the story and culture of the Hmong community through music, fashion, dance, art, and food. We welcome all communities to learn about the Hmong American experience—this is an opportunity to show your solidarity with our progress as we strive to be a part of the larger American story.
Please support this once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Show your support for the Hmong American community. The Center for Hmong Arts and Talent is a 501(c)(3) community nonprofit.
CHAT grew out of Pom Siab Hmoob Theatre (PSHT), the first Hmong theatre company in the world. From 1990 to 1997, PSHT wrote and produced five successful community-based productions and three professionally staged theatrical works. In 1998, PSHT organizers decided to expand their focus beyond theater arts to serve a broader range of Hmong artists. As a result, PSHT changed its name to the Center for Hmong Arts and Talent (CHAT) and broadened its scope to multiple disciplines, making it the first and only multidisciplinary Hmong arts organization in the United States.
Since then, CHAT has evolved into a social justice arts organization, engaging the community to better understand and address the needs of those most impacted by its services. CHAT frequently employs innovative community-driven strategies to tackle social issues affecting the community. For nearly 20 years, CHAT has been nurturing Hmong artists, providing a platform for them to share their work, and advocating for a more vibrant Hmong community through the arts.
CHAT exists to nurture, explore & illuminate the Hmong American experience through artistic expressions.
CHAT envisions a vibrant community where Hmong American artists are inspired to share their perspectives, valued for their creative contributions, and empowered to challenge life’s boundaries.
